Step-by-Step Bleeding Control
Follow these steps to control bleeding

Initial Response

  1. Ensure your safety
    • Wear disposable gloves if available
    • Avoid contact with blood
    • Check for scene safety
  2. Call (+63) 917 123 4567 or ask someone to call
  3. Expose the wound area

Direct Pressure Technique

  1. Apply direct pressure
    • Use clean cloth, gauze, or bandage
    • Press firmly on the wound
    • Maintain constant pressure
  2. Add more layers if blood soaks through (don't remove original dressing)
  3. Secure dressing with bandage
  4. Keep pressure until medical help arrives

Additional Measures

  1. Elevate injured area above heart if possible
  2. Help person lie down if appropriate
  3. Keep person warm and calm
  4. Monitor for signs of shock:
    • Pale, cool, clammy skin
    • Rapid breathing
    • Weakness or dizziness
    • Confusion
Special Considerations

DO NOT:

  • Remove objects embedded in wounds
  • Apply tourniquet unless trained
  • Clean deep wounds
  • Remove blood-soaked bandages (add more on top)

Seek Immediate Medical Care If:

  • Bleeding cannot be controlled
  • Wound is large or deep
  • Signs of infection appear
  • Signs of shock develop
